Cardrona’s mountain carting is a gravity-fueled adventure like no other - no experience required! With three wheels, three times the fun, and trails designed specifically for carting, this is one summer activity you’ll want to tick off your bucket list. Mountain carting at Cardrona is the only experience of its kind in the country and the only lift-accessed mountain carting in Australasia.

Ride top of the line, German engineered carts with a low centre of gravity, wide wheelbase, and hydraulic disc brakes for comfort, control and stability.

Enjoy two hours of thrilling downhill fun with as many chairlift uplifts as you can fit in. Explore three purpose-built trails stretching across 3km of stunning alpine terrain, whether you're chasing adrenaline, cruising with friends, or soaking in the views. After the fun, keep the good vibes rolling with a visit to the tasty Noodle Bar, where flavour packed delights meet stunning alpine views.

Location

Cardrona Alpine Resort is accessed from Cardrona Valley 14km up a 14km unsealed mountain road

Notes

It is essential to arrive 30 minutes prior to your chosen session time to complete a safety briefing.
Minimum height restriction for a single driver is 100cm.
The maximum weight for mountain carting is 110kg.
Children must be at least 8 years old to ride a mountain cart solo.
NZs only mountain cart experience situated in Cardronas Alpine Playground 1670m above sea level. Its always a few degrees cooler up the mountain to please dress accordingly. Closed footwear is essential for carting.
Cart sizes are based on the driver height - you will be asked to select an applicable height on the way to check out:
X-Small: 100 - 120cm
Small: 120 - 165cm
Medium: 155 - 180cm
Large: 170 - 195cm
X-Large: 180 - 210cm

Operating Season:13 Dec to 1 March. Operating day and hours may vary. Closed on Christmas Day.

High adrenaline stuff!!

The experience was amazing, even though the day was rainy and really foggy (they have to close 2/3 track due to low visibility), it was extremely fun. I love the fact you can control the speed so If you like drifting and speeding thats perfect. The only downside in my experience was that there were a lot of pot holes and cracks on the tracks so when I went really fast I lifted from the seat and hit my kidneys every time (rip kidney). Overall I highly recommend the experience

Epic Fun!

We've been 3 times now, as it's so good. Try and keep your mouth closed for the dust but you won't be able to as you'll be laughing so hard. Best with mates who like a race, enjoy!

DO IT!

We went carting on a freezing summers day in 5° and whiteout conditions and 4 layers of clothing under our overalls. Not gonna lie, we pondered if this was indeed gonna be fun and we'd come away fully intact (both in our 50's) so pleased we went for it! It's a blast. DO IT!!!
